How To Search For An Inmate In Hennepin County

Step 1: Go To The Hennepin County Sheriff Website

Step 2: Enter The Person's Name

You need the person's first and last name as it appears on their legal ID. A nickname will not return results. If you are unsure of the exact spelling, try different variations.

Step 3: Review The Results

If the person appears in the search results, you will see their booking date, the charges filed, the bail amount (if set), and where they are housed in the facility. This is the information you need to start the bail bond process.

When The Person Does Not Appear In The Search

If the person does not show up in the roster, there are a few possible reasons. They may still be in the booking process, which takes 2 to 4 hours. They may have been taken to a city holding facility first before being transferred. Or the search may be delayed in updating.

What The Bail Amount Tells You

If the inmate search shows a bail amount, you can call a bail bondsman right now and begin the release process. The bond fee is 10% of that amount. If the bail amount shows as "pending" or "hearing required," the defendant has not yet had a bail hearing and you will need to wait for a judge to set bail.
